Features : Adds Map is a digital book involving several interactions. This application for iPad allows the user to browse a map by choosing a particular country. By touching the tablet surface, many videos and sounds begin start at the same time. Those videos are advertisements depending on the country selected. It also allows the user to zoom in and out at a specific video. The application tends to represent the television hype in today's world and question the culture of media.
Research study inspired by : Study of a work - El Aplauso, Antonio Muntadas (1999)
Inspired by the artistic process Atonio Muntadas, especially El Aplauso installation, my project is based on a critical representation of the media industry. Using a commonly used machine, digital tablets are taking center interest in this digital age. El Aplauso suggests through a large-scale projection the indifference and blame television. Despite our common awareness of the atrocities of the world, television channel leads to this trivialization, thus by the incessant repetition of violence scenes.
My project is based on the same critical approach of the media today, especially in this current century. Using advertisements, we live in a society that seeks to push the consumer to buy and spend money at first glance, to fill our brains with slogans and promises. Using the mapping of the world, I want to create a visual and audible mechanical symphony of various advertisements throughout the world. Limiting to some major continents such as the United States, Europe and Asia, I want to show similarities and divergences of this advertising industry in everyday life.
